The songwriter/piano player/rock icon had at least one resurgence over the years, teaming with Elton John on 2010's *The Union* (and touring, and hitting SNL (30+ years after his initial invite with then-wife Mary [McCreary]) and Fallon)... my memories of him are mainly as part of LA's "Wrecking Crew" studio ensemble that backed a laundry list of hit singers and made up part of Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound"... today (13) in Nashville; 74.
