So, this snuck up on me. I was searching for a program today on X1 and was
taken to a typical On Demand episode list for the series, and noticed the
word "Netflix" by it. When I clicked on it I was taken to what was a
Netflix window. I had to sign in with my existing login and password, and
then got an interface which looked almost identical to a regular netflix
page.

Apparently all Netflix content can now be accessed through my cable tv
system. They are saying part of the benefit is that I don't have to use a
second remote and switch input, but this is hardly noticeable to me. I do
like the benefit of integrating the Netflix and Xfinity television and film
library. For a while now, when I want to watch a film that is available for
an extra fee on Xfinity, I go to my other services to see if it is included
for no extra charge there (as it often is). Now it looks like I will be
able to check Netflix at the same time I am checking Xfinity. Also will be
easier to identify which currently airing programs are available on Netflix
from Season 1.

I am not sure what the benefit is to the companies exactly. One thing that
occurs to me is that if I were to access Netflix though Xfinity (rather
than switching to my Fire TV stick, which is what I do now) I might be less
likely to browse content on other streaming services. Currently, if I watch
content on Netflix, when I am done I am much more likely to consider
viewing content from Amazon or Hulu. If I am watching content on Xfinity, I
am less likely to browse these other services. If that is at all common, I
could see some benefit to both Netflix and Comcast. The USA article
suggests that Netflix is probably paying Comcast a small percentage of new
subscribers. I hope this does not discourage Netflix from streaming films
that Xfinity charges for.
