I have a friend who organized some sort of labor protest in the Los Angeles area in the late 1990s. He had some celebrities lined up, including Max Gail. It was both to raise social consciousness and money, I think in the Whittier area. Then someone organized a similar protest a few hours earlier in Los Angeles. TV crews announced they would go that one, not the one my friend organized. Only two celebrities showed up at my friend's event, Max Gail and and a TV show writer. My friend was ready to take a bullet for Max Gail after that.
