Supposedly, there was a period of time when it was believed that Mr. Irving being cast in a Broadway musical was a jinx, since he had a sizable run of nothing but flops, of which I'm sure he was very happy when "Me and My Girl" and the "Pirates" revival (with Linda Ronstadt and Rex Smith) were hits.
