I don't consume too much Twitter, and even then mostly from a narrow band
that screens out much discussion of popular culture. But what has been
ticking me off in a related way is the screen saver on my Xfinity Comcast.
When you pause replay on a recorded show, after a few seconds they put on a
slide show with news headlines and weather - and often they post scores
from games played even only a few hours earlier. WTF? I used to get pissed
when ESPN scrolled spoiler scores during baseball and football games, and
finally accepted that their job is to report sports news, not embargo it.
So I make it a point to watch any recorded game on non-ESPN sources first
before watching something on ESPN. But I am not going to sit still for my
cable company coming unasked into my intimate TV watching environment and
spoiling my games. Surely, I cry, there must be a way to turn this
"service" off? So far, search google and my operators manual, I have not
found it.
