Defining a companion within canon can be a bit tricky. “Traveling companion”? There was that stretch in the Dr3 era he didn’t leave Earth but he had an assistant (Liz). And what of the Brigadier and the rest of the UNIT crew? It gets a little more dicey in the modern era: Does billing in the credits count? All those Christmas specials with the one-off guest stars….
