Although it might seem to be a balance between audiences, advertisers and
revenues that Fox is balancing, the "fit and proper" test for the Murdoch's
full ownership of Sky in Europe is critical to their business. $100-$200m
in lost revenues is nothing when set against a $14bn deal.

Murdoch tried to take ownership of Sky before, but that got derailed by the
phone hacking scandal in the UK that saw the closure of the then biggest
selling Sunday paper in the country. That was a painful retreat at the time.

The Murdochs absolutely do not want or need O'Reilly to derail their second
attempt. While I suspect that it wouldn't make a great deal of difference
either way, it's an unwanted distraction to the business.

I suspect O'Reilly will be gone, and the Murdochs will get Sky.

(Right - back to UK election coverage... There's something to be said for
only getting six weeks' notice of an election rather than four years...)
