Terry Gross can be a very good interviewer, but she too frequently gushes over her guests (making "The Chris Farley Show" seem serious and somber), laughs inappropriately, and has obsessions that she can't let go of. To me, the most welcome words on "Fresh Air" are "I'm Dave Davies, in for Terry Gross." (The least welcome are "If you're just joining us, my guest is ..." Who's your guest if I've been listening from the beginning?)
