I don't use Snapchat so I won't be watching. If NBC doesn't go to that platform, somebody else like Buzzfeed will and that will lead to young people thinking of NBC (all network news, really) as being for old people only. There were many factors that contributed to the fall of newspapers. One of them was that senior management made it clear that the print product. The paper could start a website, but they had to stay out of the way and not interfere with the printed edition. When young people came to work at the paper and they brought ideas about growing the online presence they were rebuffed and often left in frustration realizing that the printed newspaper has no future. So if NBC put teasers for the evening news broadcast on Snapchat that would be comical. Instead they seem to be making an investment in figuring out what kind of news stories young people want (and gathering detailed metrics is much easier than from broadcast) and delivering it to them on a platform they use. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
