CBS is buying Australian commercial TV's perennial ratings doormat Network
10 (which is often beaten in the ratings by pubcaster ABC--as in Australian
Broadcasting Corporation) for an undisclosed amount (the Eye already owned
one-third of Ten's digital sister channel Eleven, the current home of
first-run episodes of the soap "Neighbours," a move that some believe has
made the show less popular in its home country)--CBS says it will launch
CBS All Access in Australia to compete with Netflix, Amazon and Nine
Network and Fairfax's Stan, but has to reconcile the fact that Ten owes the
Eye almost A$850M in license fees for programming:

Until now, it was presumed that Lachlan Murdoch, one of Rupert's sons, and
the owner of WIN, Ten's biggest affiliate owner, were going to co-purchase
the net--if government regulations that kept them from buying the net were
changed. That's been avoided, but one wonders how CBS is going to handle
that big programming bill (and, like so many foreign countries,
home-produced reality shows have replaced American imports as the ratings
champs). Here are all of the CBS-owned programs airing tomorrow, Aug. 29,
(which it already is in Australia) on Ten and sister channels Eleven and
One:

TEN:

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
CBS This Morning
Entertainment Tonight
The Bold and the Beautiful
Dr. Phil
Judge Judy
NCIS
NCIS LA
("Hawaii Five-O"--the reboot--and "Blue Bloods" also air in prime time,
among others)

ELEVEN:

King of Queens (CBS owns foreign syndication)
Becker
Everybody Loves Raymond
Fraiser
Touched by an Angel
The Millers
The Good Wife
The Late Late Show with James Corden

ONE:

Jake and the Fatman
Nash Bridges
The Doctors (the current daytime talk show)
Star Trek: TNG
Hogan's Heroes
CSI Cyber
Matlock
Scorpion
48 Hours

And oh yes--I thought Netflix owned the foreign rights to "Star Trek:
 Discovery."
