His First Pitch was one of the best things to happen in what (for this Giants fan) has been a miserable MLB season. Always classy.
Also, since as a group we have given young Joe Buck a pretty hard (and often deserved) time, I think it only fair to give him his due. The first time he said that Vinnie was the best of all time I wondered to myself if he was crossing his fingers; then he said something like "as Jack Buck's son I can say Scully was the best of all time, and it's not even close." I was really touched by the graciousness of that remark, the plain mid western niceness of it, especially in the vain and prickly age of Trump. No doubt his Dad would have been proud, and Vin would have disagreed. Overall, Buck is much less bad with Smoltz as his partner...
