I'm still reading in digest form.
I'm okay with ditching the footer, I guess ... although it will eventually
confuse somebody, I'm sure. And the people who don't bother deleting
non-essential material in their replies will continue doing that, so I'm not
sure how much getting rid of the footer will help. But we can try it.

I think it was a more general comment. Something like the Flynn plea deal
could have happened Wednesday, too.

If I was known for daily content, I'd be saying that disclaimer every time
I taped early. Not good for ratings, but honest and trustworthy.

The two tapings I've been to recently - Conan (in his first TBS run at the
Beacon Theater) and Colbert - were both effectively live-to-tape. Colbert
had a few stops for retakes (caused by him flubbing a line - it WAS show #7
after all), and he shot one segment that didn't make it to air.

Wasn't it Gawker that used to call Brian Ross "America's Wrongest
Reporter"?
I seem to vaguely recall one case where Ross misreported information on a
crime suspect because he got it from the Facebook page of someone with the
same name as the suspect...

ABC never recovered from the loss of Peter Jennings, who really seemed to
guide and mentor the other journalists on World News. That said, Gawker
isn’t exactly credible.

His Wikipedia page lists a lot of hits and misses. He won several awards. I
have a vague recollection of him screwing the pooch at NBC News, but I can't
remember the story.

Looking at the Wiki page, I recall the incident now that I was referring to
earlier: the Aurora shooting in 2012. Ross reported live that the shooter
was a member of a Tea Party group, but it turned out to be somebody with a
similar name.

My earliest memory of Ross is from his NBC days and his reporting on Wayne
Newton's mob connections. Newton sued for libel and won, but the award was
later reduced and eventually reversed by the court.

Browsing in "private" (FireFox), "incognito" (Chrome), or "InPrivate"
(Explorer) mode also works very well.
