I really think this is one of the more impressive things I have seen any comic do. Its one thing to make snarky jokes in the safety of your late night tv studio, another to pile on in public once the mass of public opinion is already marching ahead of you. But Oliver was way ahead of the curve on this, and had no guarantee it would go well for him (and it still may not).
