I remember him going on to the Late Show when he was in that multiple graduate school phase and just shrugging at Dave when Dave asked him why he was taking that on. Franco told Maron about his deep insecurity which drove him to take on all that graduate work. So instead of bragging about intellectual achievement he shared being driven by insecurity. When talking about hosting the Oscars Franco said he wanted to be spontaneous and did not prepare.
