I do regularly check out Jay Leno’s Garage (the YouTube channel, not the CNBC series), and it is hit or miss with equal frequency. But I was a Knight Rider kid, so I got a kick out of seeing Leno drive an original KITT. I’ve seen several replicas at car shows, but this was one of the ones actually used on the series (and subsequently sat in by tourists at Universal). It made me laugh how little Jay knew about the series, and how little he cared about it, but he still enjoyed the car. It also made me laugh hearing all the squeaks and creaks of the custom dashboard and other plastic doo dads attached to the car during production of the series.
And those old Pontiacs do look good. https://youtu.be/3YKtQrYNKPg Leno does lie in the clip when he says he had never been inside a Knight Rider car before. He did a promotional tie-in installment of his series featuring the KR Mustang used in the most recent incarnation of the show. But I can’t seem to find it on his YouTube channel anymore. -- Kevin M.
