Perusing his articles on the Esquire website I could only find an advice column
of sorts informed by his experiences 'living biblically' and an interview with
Jacobs when the book came out. Jacobs' writing is peppered with similar kinds
of experiments, including spending time as a human test subject.

As Mark noted, this one was based on a book.
But I seem to recall the book was based on a blog (or video blog?) maintained
during the experiment? Maybe I’m wrong. I’ve been wrong a lot today... more
than the average.
Per wikipedia the book The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to
Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible came out in 2007 and Jacobs did a TED
talk about his experiment. He was a contributing editor at Esquire and he might
have written an article while he was putting together the book. From reading
his other books he doesn't seem the type to pitch ideas on social media.
