Deadwood though is unique among modern prestige television in being cut off in its prime. Fans felt a special kind of loss and betrayal, and have long been promised some kind of resolution (originally 2 two-hour movies). There may be some self-contained plot elements, but this special really has to be focused on paying off long time fans (and maybe allowing HBO to push the show more effectively for binge viewing).
