I want a different set of showrunners who are not affiliated with Discovery. But, yeah, I’m also interested.
The series of five Trek novels dealing with the assassination of the Federation president and its aftermath were, I thought, some of the best Trek ever written. And the evolution of the character of Picard was brilliantly laid out within those books (as well as some hysterical exchanges between Picard and DS9’s Garek). I know none of the novels are canonical, but whomever puts the new series together would be well advised to take a cue from them. Unfortunately, after Discovery I have to severely ratchet down my expectations. I suspect the new series episodes will be focused on epic space battles, CGI aliens, and no attention to storytelling beyond “Red alert... fire phasers...!” But please, CBS, if you’re reading this: No Wesley f*cking Crusher!
