Similar situation from the most recent season of Top Chef - John Besh (disgraced former New Orleans restauranteur) appeared as a judge in their Olympic tie-in episode. The episode couldn’t be scrapped, so they had to get creative with editing (think “24”-style split screens) to excise Besh from the proceedings.
