Chevy's comments about SNL remind me of a part of what's called "founders' syndrome" in the nonprofit world. Some people get together to found an organization which is considered out there at the founding. They move on without thinking or planning for the future of the organization and eventually a sustainable organization becomes mainstream with institutional leadership which is no longer out there. The founders become bitter and will happily grouse to anyone who will listen how boring the current state is and how much better it was in the swashbuckling old days. The backbone of the article is that Chevy is waiting at home for his next big opportunity to come to him.
