I should probably recuse myself since the premise of the pilot is about a family whose mom just died, but they forget to bring the funny. Laurie Metcalf tried really hard, but it just landed flat. Goodman’s interaction with his grandson was actually a good dynamic, but overall the series seems to be about as desperate as... well... the final season of the original run of Roseanne.
