The wife and I are starting to get to the hate-watching stage with “Mrs. Maisel.” While we find many (if not all) of the performers entertaining, the writing is almost Sorkinesque (constant readers will note this is not a compliment from me).
The anachronisms aside, I find the characters smugly self-congratulatory, the lack of any real obstacles unrealistic (especially given the thrust of a female stand-up trying to make it in the late 50s/early 60s), and most egregiously, the routines aren’t that funny to us. We just look at each other and say “Is that supposed to be edgy and funny?” Oh, well. —Dave Sikula -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
