I bought this one last week on iTunes for a couple of bucks. I’d already
purchased the original BBC TV series on VHS many years ago (and it
converted quite well to digital), but the amount and type of bonus features
contained in this special edition made it worth the repurchase. In fact,
the bonus footage runs longer than the original six part series.

If you wanted a look at the production facilities and equipment and
processes used by the BBC in the early 1980s, I recommend this even for
those who aren’t fans of H2G2. There are separate full documentaries
dedicated to the audio production facilities and the animation facilities.
For fans of the series, one of the documentaries produced in the early
1990s includes a few scenes filmed with the cast in character using the
original set of Arthur’s home. It is all rather dated now, but it functions
as a terrific time capsule of TV production, with loads of interviews with
Douglas Adams and the rest of the cast and crew. Fun trivia as well,
including the fact one of the Doctors from Doctor Who was amongst the cast,
though he was in so much makeup he is quite unrecognizable.
