And what turned me off (and made me shut this one down) was that Goggins character’s supposedly best friends approached him and said, “dude, it’s been a year... time to stop grieving and start dating.” The moment those characters presumed to know what was best for a man who had lost his wife, that was the moment I literally had hate for those characters. I know, it’s only a sitcom premise, but we all know TV can influence certain people. And if some viewer out there who is grieving watches that show and comes away from the experience feeling extra bad because they too aren’t keeping to some timeline set for them by their well intentioned yet ignorant friends or family, then a line has been crossed.
