Don Roy King has been the Director of SNL since 2006, and I think just won
an Emmy for last season. Yet, it seems to me there have been several
technical problems already this season, more frequent than I recall
noticing in the past. These seem to be related to taking the wrong camera
shot at the wrong time (it happened last night, and during at least two
other episodes this season).

I’m sure putting on a live show is incredibly complex, and it is probably
surprising there aren’t more problems. But it seems odd that they would
start having more problems now. Is someone other than the Director
responsible for this kind of thing? Maybe rather than taking the wrong
shot, the camera operator is in the wrong place? So maybe they have a
rookie on one of the cameras?

Also, this is happening while the musical numbers seem to be unusually
complex and demanding, so maybe they are spending more time prepping those
and less time rehearsing the sketches?
