Dare to Defy indeed: C-Dub has decided to make January their official
reopening for the year. Outside of the final five episodes of
"Supernatural" (the last remaining WB series to carry over to the then-new
network), the fall lineup will be the overseas pickups that they usually
run in the summer, along with some acquisitions of streaming shows and
whatever reality series will be able to go into production in time. Come
January, it's a very familiar lineup for the perennial fifth-place net (who
depends more on social media and streaming figures than Nielsens), with
both of the new shows having familiar titles. This is as listed by ew.com,
new shows in all caps:

MONDAY

8:00-9:00PM All American

9:00-10:00PM Black Lightning

TUESDAY

8:00-9:00PM The Flash

9:00-10:00PM SUPERMAN & LOIS--See what I mean by familiar? It's the fourth
live-action series for the Man of Steel (after "The Adventures of
Superman," "Lois and Clark" and "Smallville"), Following continuity from
"Lois and Clark," Clark Kent and Lois Lane will be married (we don't know
if the Kryptonian baby discovered in the series finale will be carried
over) and will explore the challenges of being married to an alien who is
faster than a speeding bullet, etc. It's part of the DC-Greg Berlanti
"Arrowverse" and with "Batwoman" will be the focus of the next Arrowverse
crossover (although it will not be the multi-show spectacular last season's
"Crisis on Infinite Earths" was). Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch
play the title characters, as they already have on the Arrowverse shows
(Hoechlin most prominently on "Supergirl"). From Warners, of course.

WEDNESDAY

8:00-9:00PM Riverdale

9:00-10:00PM Nancy Drew

THURSDAY

8:00-9:00PM WALKER--As in "Texas Ranger." Twenty years after the
contemporary Western series went off the air on CBS, it's a reboot starring
Jared Padalecki from "Supernatural" (the C-Dub loves continuity) as the
butt-kicking Texas Ranger originally played by Chuck Norris. For this
version he's been given a female partner and an extended family, including
a gay brother. (The wife he married near the end of the original series
seems to be gone--he still has kids by the marriage, now teenagers.) CBS
is producing, original co-producer Sony is not involved.

9:00-10:00PM Legacies

FRIDAY

8:00-9:00PM Penn & Teller: Fool Us (New Night)

9:00-9:30PM Whose Line is It Anyway? (New Night)

9:30-10:00PM Whose Line is It Anyway? (New Night)
The summer unscripted stand-bys get a first-run airing in cold weather. I
assume that the shows were already shot for airing this summer and will
just be held six more months--and I assume that "Masters of Illusion" will
be around this summer and is already in the can, along with the overseas
shows.

SUNDAY

8:00-9:00PM Batwoman

9:00-10:00PM Charmed (New Night)

"Katy Keene" is on the bubble, but being Berlanti and the only other Archie
Comics series, it will probably get renewed.

Who knows who's next?
