Conan just has more staff writer/performers than the other shows.
Colbert's Late Show never has had that many regular performers. If
writer/producers are on screen, it's usually as themselves for whatever bit is
being done.
The duo who play Jim Anchorton (John Thibodeaux) and Jill Newslady (Jen Spyra)
are maybe the only exceptions. However, Thibodeaux welcomed his first child
shortly before the pandemic and Spyra left the show last fall. Thibodeaux has
also paired with Stack for various sports-themed sketches.

Stack has always been in charge of the cold open. That he's doing them alone is
