Did anybody think Krasinski was going to give up day jobs to continue doing SGN? I suspect that if it was continuing to be freely available, with a sponsor or ads, its fans wouldn't be worked up. But being behind a paywall -- and not even an especially popular one, at that -- is probably the real annoyance. (I saw the first one or two. They were a pleasant diversion during a stressful time, but I haven't gone back.) I watched them all. The show had a low key charm. It looks like all current media does, no hair and makeup, no fancy lighting or camera filters, a simple set from the host's home. It was free and easy to get everywhere. And they treated the show as community property. They encouraged copycats and they made them a part of the eighth show. It became clear as the show went on that it was becoming more resource intensive. I'm not surprised that Krasinski couldn't find a way to continue it on his own. Selling it to CBS/Viacom means putting it behind a paywall, turning community property to copyrighted property, and losing the community spirit of the whole enterprise. I liked it when everything was shut down. I won't miss it if it becomes something else. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
