Agreed. But he casually let slip during one show that his 90-something year
old father-in-law was at the residence. In retrospect I thought that should
have made me think he wasn't in NJ, and was probably in SC. Both his and his
wife's families are from there.

Colbert is doing the show from the office building above the Ed, in what is
supposedly a recreation of his actual offices. Various staffers are present,
and Mrs. Colbert is off camera as usual (for how long is unclear). Jon Batiste
and company are still remote. Stephen had a good interview with Dr. Jon LaPook
focused on virus spread and vaccinations.
(side note: while I should have deduced this earlier, Colbert was shooting from
whatever home he has in South Carolina, and not from NJ)
