I read the article and I would say the reason they did this interview after
eight years is because Curry wasn't willing to talk about The Today Show
until now or magazine editors didn't see an interview like this as
newsworthy. If Curry sees herself as an old style hard news journalist she
would see the goings on at The Today Show as gossip and nothing to go
public with. She reported what had been told to her about Lauer to NBC News
at the time and that was her obligation.

SHe is hurt that the executives at NBC News never told her why she was
being fired from The Today Show. Considering she had financial security,
she knew that the top brass at NBC News were covering up for Lauer, and she
wasn't being judged on her credibility or credentials as a journalist but
as a ratings magnet, and maybe it was easier to quietly walk away.
