Allan Burns got his start in television writing for "Rocky and Bullwinkle"
creator Jay Ward, including inventing the Quaker Oats cereal character
Cap'n Crunch, before breaking off with fellow Ward writer Chris Hayward to
create "The Munsters" (and successfully kept their credit when the writers
of a pilot tried to claim the credit) and "My Mother the Car," which was
intended to be a satire of 60s gimmick sitcoms (and ended up being the
worst of the bunch) before creating "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" with James
L. Brooks (and "MTM"'s spinoffs):

Some of you may remember that "My Mother the Car Reruns" had a place on the
WJM schedule board in the program director's office.
