I started re-watching TOH last season after a good decade or more of being
away, and what most struck me is that they've really doubled down on the
trend that was starting then. Rather than working on houses and showing
ideas that most viewers could take advantage of, they've really leaned into
choosing homeowners with a ton of money and almost no taste. The last few
houses I've seen have taken potentially great spaces and made them hideous
masterpieces of conspicuous consumption.
