Maron can be fawning or unnecessarily complimenting at times, but he always lets his guest tell their story and he can respond with compassion instead of judgement. I don't listen to other celebrity interview podcasts so I don't know how widespread this is. What I have observed over the years is that older celebrities (besides rock stars) have become liberated from worrying about PR issues and tabloid scandals and are more open to talk about personal issues or former workplace nightmares. Sally Struthers certainly felt confident enough to share her grievances about Lear and the hurt she felt when comics made fun of her while she worked for the Christian Childrens' Fund. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
