It doesn't always lead to the organizations getting their way but the attention does change the process. The story is strange because we naturally assume everybody is acting in good faith and that leads to a conflict. If we want to ascribe bad faith to one side, our bias leads to the accusation since we can't get the whole story from sealed court documents.
