“Inventing David Geffen” on Netflix was enlightening and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Geffen came into my consciousness in maybe the late 1980s. Mainly what I knew about him was that he was a powerful man in Hollywood. Many were afraid to challenge him. Many who did got crushed. Also, later in the 1990s, he was politically involved. The wow moment of this documentary is that he got started handling musical talent by being their best friend. He was caring and nurturing. This was not the man I expected. Geffen was gay, but he had a heterosexual relationship with Cher and was deeply in love with her. Again, showing the complex nature of human beings. It’s an interesting documentary and for people of a certain age there’s a lot of celebrities. It’s worth your time.
