I watched this episode of the show (I’m just switching over to YoutubeTV and decided to DVR Meyers, and this was the first one in queue). It was touching because of how obviously Meyers cares for Mulaney, and Mulaney is so likable it is easy to be on his side.
But it also captures a moment of fragile hope, which I have lived many times, where you are so relieved that someone is doing better and full of positive intention, and yet aware at some level that 9 months clean post rehab is a poor predictor of long term sobriety. I am rooting for him, but I hope this episode is not getting mentioned again in six months after a public lapse (or worse). If Olivia Munn was my daughter I would be worried she was getting so involved with someone so early in this process.
