>From the country where wacky novelty records still get played on the radio outside of morning zoos and Dr. Demento, graphic designer and YouTuber Mark Ian Hoyle, aka "LadBaby," who has only put out four singles in his recording career, has for the fourth year in a row claimed the coveted Christmas no. 1 on the UK's Official Singles Chart. He's done it every year with a parody song about that peculiar Commonwealth food favorite sausage rolls: "We Built This City" (parodying the Starship song), "I Love Sausage Rolls, (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock and Roll,"), "Don't Stop Me Eatin'" (Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'") and, this year, "Sausage Rolls for Everyone," parodying Elton John and Ed Sheeran's new song "Merry Christmas," the song that logically should've been the Christmas no. 1:
https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-59762286 It should be mentioned that all four records were fundraisers for a food bank network in the UK. I can't find the amount raised over the years, but you can't discount a good cause. In addition, Sir Elton and Sheeran were good enough sports to appear on the record. Meanwhile, Hoyle now has the record for the most consecutive Christmas No. 1s in the 70-year history of the Official Singles Chart, with a tie for second among the Beatles ("I Want to Hold Your Hand," 1963; "I Feel Fine," 1964; "Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out," 1965) and the Spice Girls ("2 Become 1" in 1997 and two records the following years that were not U.S. hits). The full list of Christmas no. 1s (including the successful 2009 attempt to block an "X Factor" winner from the slot after an oughts domination of the no. 1 by TV talent show winners with a Rage Against the Machine song): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UK_Singles_Chart_Christmas_number_ones BTW, that school choir grandma song in 1980 kept John Lennon's "(Just Like) Starting Over" out of the number 1 slot completely. Once again, the wackiness of the UK singles charts. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
