Fremantle is shopping it, but there are few obvious outlets. At least few
that are likely to want to spend the sort of money it'd take. Soaps are
cheap in the scheme of things, but expensive given the volumes, and Channel
5 was paying the bulk of the production cost since the show slipped off
linear TV in Australia to a digital sister channel.

- The BBC won't buy it. Licence Fee constraints and the need to invest in
UK productions, not Australian-set things (unless they're glossy co-pros
like the recent very entertaining The Tourist). There's no obvious space
for it either, with the small exception of using it on BBC Three. But I
just don't see that happening.

- ITV *probably *won't buy it. No space on ITV for it. They're about to
rejig their early evenings which already have the very successful The
Chase, followed by local news (very popular), and a national news at 6:30
that is going to expand to an hour. Then it's soaps all the way with
Emmerdale (shifting to 7:30pm which takes it opposite EastEnders on the BBC
at least a couple of times a week), and Coronation St expanding to an hour
three times a week. ITV2 *could* be a home. But it'd be a big investment
for that channel.

- Channel 4. Unsure. They have their own soap, Hollyoaks. And again need to
push the UK thing. I guess they could switch their nightly 6pm The Simpsons
screenings with Neighbours, and a Neighbours/Hollyoaks block might work.
The only way I'd see this happen was if Disney were flexing their muscles
on The Simpsons. Currently Sky gets it first-run, and Channel 4 reruns.
Both use it extensively on their linear channels. But they're all there,
ad-free on Disney+ too...

- Sky. Doubtful. While it could find a home on Sky Max (new name for Sky
One), I think owners Comcast are thinking on international scales for
commissions. They want something to work on Peacock as well as Sky if
they're going to invest.

- UKTV (aka BBC Studios' independent commercial channels). I can't work out
where there'd be a natural home for it. Dave? W? They'll run the numbers.

- Discovery. See UKTV.

- BritBox. Possible. If the economics work, then they could perhaps get
some decent sign-ups. But the demographics of the show might not match.

- Netflix/Amazon/Apple. There are slightly fewer than 1m dedicated viewers
in the UK. This doesn't make sense. While Netflix and Amazon certainly have
soap-ish stuff on their platforms, they tend to be glossier. (Although
perhaps if I dug deep into Spanish/Turkish/Hindi/Korean language sections,
I might find their daily soaps).

(Sorry - this is all very "inside UK TV" and I've probably mentioned a
couple of channels few others here have even heard of!)
