Even if you're persuaded that Chappelle was just against this particular deal
rather than any affordable housing project, he still looks like an out-of-touch
elitist for flouting local meeting procedures and dismissing a small-d
democratic process. I would assume any local advocates are not happy with him
for his tactics, if nothing else.

Giving Chappelle every possible benefit of every possible doubt, he failed to
articulate any substantive reason for opposing the proposed building project,
and for the town to side with him out of fear he’d take his money elsewhere
seems like something the builders/property owners could sue (or at least
re-petition) to overturn. But it might be cost prohibitive to do so.

This is classic NIMBY. Chappelle has a gift for insight intohumanity, but he is
so clueless here. There’s no question he’s punching down inthis outburst.
