This is my understanding as well. The Cage, a standard length for a one
hour pilot, was never a two-parter, but was not broadcast in syndication
until the late 80s; The Menagerie was always shown in two parts in
syndication (and first run). Perhaps Bob’s brother meant that these days
whenever the Menagerie is broadcast part 1 and 2 are shown consecutively?
