The number of conservation biologists and habitat scientists has exploded since the original series was on. The producers of the new series don’t have to be wedded to conservation practices of a generation ago.
That said, I have been to conservation talks in rural Pennsylvania and the lecturers talk about how the whole Mid-Atlantic region is overrun by white tailed deer and the only thing that can keep their population in check is hunting.
