Jules Bass, along with his partner Arthur Rankin, Jr. (who died in 2014), was responsible for a lot of well-remembered animated specials and series over five decades, most notably those holiday standbys "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman"--they also pioneered the process of having the animation production done in Pacific Rim countries to save money and the use of celebrity voices on their specials--they also brought to Saturday morning television on ABC cartoon versions of the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds--age-related illness in an assisted living facility in upstate New York:
