Creator of "Dallas" and "Knots Landing", and twice Emmy-nominated as an executive of "Homefront", that postwar soap in the 90s led by Kyle Chandler... in a Television Academy Foundation interview, he said that "Knots" actually was written first, and that "Dallas" was to be built around Linda Evans, which I'm guessing CBS / Lorimar didn't agree with as she went on to "Dynasty"...
