Diner, to Tom Wolper et al, Sept 13th: Having never watched more than a few minutes of DWTS at a time, my first reaction upon seeing this list was "Is Mira Sorvino the first Oscar-winning performer to compete on this show?" And after checking Wikipedia, I can report that the answer is no. Tatum O'Neal (9th place in season 2) and Cloris Leachman (7th place in season 7) were also contestants. (Did I miss anybody?)
