ABC considering putting off the début after contestant Matt Walsh, upon
learning the show is being picketed by writers (with protesters calling him
out in some of their signage), announced he'll be joining them...

*Then* SAG-AFTRA clarified that actors participating are not strikebreakers
(Walsh is in both guilds), *then* Gleb Savchenko, Sorvino's partner, told
THR he agrees with the guild's statement (he's a member), and that an X
remark by David Slack ("In Plain Sight" and "Jackie Chan Adventures" among
others) saying all actors must honor the walkout, is unfair:

Diner, to Tom Wolper et al, Sept 13th:

Having never watched more than a few minutes of DWTS at a time, my first
reaction upon seeing this list was "Is Mira Sorvino the first Oscar-winning
performer to compete on this show?"

And after checking Wikipedia, I can report that the answer is no. Tatum
O'Neal (9th place in season 2) and Cloris Leachman (7th place in season 7)
were also contestants. (Did I miss anybody?)

However, Ms. Sorvino is, I believe, the first DWTS contestant to have won
an Oscar for a film not directed by Peter Bogdanovich.
