It’s not a bad series, but there are two flaws that stand out. First, all the characters smirk smugly. The green woman is the worst offender, but the purple haired Mandalorian, the blue bad guy, and the titular character are equal opportunity smirkers. It occurs so frequently and at moments that do not call for smirking or smugness that it often ripped me out of the story.
Second, while viewers need not have seen any of the animated Ahsoka offerings to follow this series, the season finale is almost entirely about the animated years and sets aside the season build-up to focus on what I can only describe as obscure subreferences to events and characters that had nothing to do with the Ahsoka series. I liked the series and hope it gets a second season, but those two flaws are tough to ignore. Ahsoka isn’t nearly as tedious as Andor, but it isn’t as solid a story as Kenobi. The series is much more fantasy than scifi, but so was the original Star Wars. Ahsoka had a very Tolkien vibe to it at times, but it was better when it repressed that vibe. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TVorNotTV" group.
