It has been planned for some time (and NBC programming is off of the streamer), but Iger was making noises earlier this year about Disney refocusing to the basics, which started some chatter that the more adult Hulu wouldn't fit with Disney+--however, they are going ahead with the buyout, which they are estimating will be over $8B when the deal closes next year:
