Movie business watchers probably got a bigger shock from the over $158M
worldwide gross for Universal's "Five Nights at Freddy's," the horror film
based on a video game set at a deserted Chuck E. Cheese's manque, than from
anything in the movie--and Peacock claims (without showing the numbers)
that the day-and-date of release in theaters streaming of the film was
bigger on the ailing service than any other recent programming, including
the streaming premiere of "Super Mario Brothers the Movie":

Some will say that NBCU blew some potential box office money from the
decision (especially since horror movies almost always turn a profit
because they're usually low budget), but you could also say that they were
giving choices to the audience and the audience responded to both choices.
