Directed the pilot episodes (remember, they aired on consecutive nights) of "Batman" (with those "Dutch angle" shots of the villains!), original "Star Trek" pilot "The Cage" (we all know what happened with that), and "Hogan's Heroes," all in the mid-60s, and "Hill Street Blues"' opener in 1980 (aired Jan '81), a show he wanted to look "messy"... also co-created "Remington Steele," and helmed the pioneering Joe Wambaugh miniseries *The Blue Knight,* for which he won two Emmys, followed by one for "Blues"...
