Alice Stewart, CNN political analyst and long time conservative Republican consultant, was found dead outside near her home last night, believed to be the result of a medical condition, not foul play.
She worked for Mike Huckabee when he was Gov of Arkansas, and then many of the main hyper conservative Republicans prior to Trump. She is being remembered by colleagues in politics and CNN as a kind and happy person, who believed politics was more about making friends than enemies. I’m sorry that she has died so early, and send condolences to her family. I saw her less as a bridge builder than as a conservative true believer who was un willing to take responsibility for the worst aspects of Trumpism, and felt they were justified by low tax rates for the wealthy, reduced corporate oversight, and Supreme Court Justices who would vote to overturn Roe.
