That is probably true in terms of the irrelevance cable has for the entertainment and information lives of an increasing number of Americans.
But cable and linear programming is still a substantial cash generating business, and reaches millions of viewers, so not yet at Channel 23 status right now. What we are seeing with these reorganizations is the players trying to insulate what they hope will be their growing streaming business from the death throes of the dying linear business, while still skimming off millions of dollars in cash still generated by linear to prop up streaming until it becomes profitable.
